mind the gap

My work is about the gap between what is experienced directly through our senses and the conceptualization of those same experiences. I mine my meditations and backyard for raw materials, examining the bones of what I perceive and why. Installations made up of distinct materials emerge intuitively, combining mortar sculpture, found plants, photos, drawing, solar prints and light. There is a specificity to these scenes—a sense of place and time, which acts as a lens into a singular aspect of human consciousness.
